The Cyclades’ two headliners, and the first question every Greece trip has to answer. No hotel will pick a side. I will, and it takes about thirty seconds.

Choose Santorini

If the caldera is the reason you’re coming

Two or three nights in a cave suite on the cliff. It’s the classic picture, and it earns its reputation. Save it for the end of the trip.

Choose Mykonos

If you want range: the loud island and the quiet one

The island that surprised me most, with some of the best hotels, meals and service of my entire Cyclades trip. Beach clubs by day, serious tables at night.
