One practical note: Arcadia is massive and spread out — in summer heat, with no meltemi wind blowing, you’ll want a golf cart to get around. Epitome is more spread out than the Caldera hotels too, but its 53 rooms still feel boutique.

If you’re asking me for the single best hotel I experienced across the Greek islands, it’s Canaves Epitome — perhaps one of the top three stays of my entire life. The gardens turn the common areas into a private world minutes from Oia’s crowds, the two-bedroom suites are the star, and the sunset is the best in Greece.
Arcadia is the right Santorini hotel for travelers who want activity and options rather than seclusion — and for families, the infrastructure is real; they’ll tell you the same. Great if you like a bit of a scene; not the move if you want exclusivity and quiet. Planning a wedding at either — room blocks at Arcadia, a buyout at Epitome — is exactly what I do.
