Adults only, on its own private peninsula — an island within an island, with the sea on three sides of you.
Minos Palace occupies a piece of geography no new hotel will ever get again: its own small peninsula on Mirabello Bay, between Agios Nikolaos town and Elounda, with water on three sides and a private sandy beach tucked into the coves. The hotel calls it an island within an island, and for once the marketing is just a description.
It's the adults-only sister of Minos Beach Art Hotel — both run by the founding Mamidakis family's bluegr group — and all 148 rooms and suites face the sea. The top categories add private pools, including the Infinity Lagoon suites whose pools flow into a shared lagoon.
The dining was overhauled in 2024 — Amar on the beachfront, MOM for Cretan longevity cooking — and the new Nao Longevity Hub gives the wellness program a genuine health-science angle, drawing on the island's famously long-lived diet. It's also the best value of my three Crete picks, usually a meaningful step below the cliff-edge newcomers in price.
The peninsula. Water on three sides means a swim before breakfast is a ten-step commute, and every room faces the sea because there's nowhere else to face.
Adults only, properly. No children on property — the quiet here is structural, not seasonal.
The 2024 dining reset. Amar on the beachfront and MOM's Cretan longevity menus, plus the NAMA pool bar and MOSA beach bar — a real step up from resort-standard.
The Nao Longevity Hub. Science-led longevity programming built on Cretan tradition, alongside the Ananea Wellness spa — a different angle from every other wellness resort in Greece.
It's a big house. 148 rooms is resort-scale — if you want a 20-room boutique, look at Acro Suites up the coast.
The bones are 1970s. Renovated throughout, but this is an established property on legacy architecture, not a new-build — that's also why the location is unrepeatable.
Book a sea-facing upgrade with intent. All rooms have sea views, but the sunset side and the private-pool suites are the categories worth the difference.
Pair it. Ten minutes from Agios Nikolaos and just down the coast from Elounda — it works beautifully as the quiet half of a two-stop Crete route.
Quiet, surrounded by water, and the best value on my Crete shortlist — the definition of an easy recommendation.
Rates through me are identical to booking direct — the perks are not. As a Fora advisor, my clients receive a space-available upgrade, daily breakfast, and a hotel credit — plus my direct line to the team on property before and during your stay.
