Splendido Review — Portofino, Italy

The Splendido earned its spot on my tennis ranking with a court terraced above Portofino's harbor, the Ligurian coastline stretching out beyond the net. Every hotel on that list has a view; very few have Portofino itself as the view.

The hotel is a former monastery folded into the hillside above one of Italy's most photographed harbors — Belmond's Riviera showpiece, and a Fora Reserve property in my partner book. Terraced gardens, the famous pool, and the walk (or shuttle) down to the piazzetta define the days here.
