Head-to-head · The Canaves question

Canaves Ena or Oia Suites?

The original Canaves against its renovated flagship. Same family, same Caldera, both set higher than most for privacy. They’re #05 and #01 on my Santorini ranking, and the gap comes down to space, the spa, and what you want your evenings to feel like. I toured both on the same trip.

Choose Ena

If intimacy and character win

Eighteen suites carved from 17th-century wine caves, run by the same family since the 80s and brought fully up to date by a 2024 renovation. The swim-up bar adds rare social energy, and Adami does authentic Greek gastronomy by the main pool.

Choose Oia Suites

If you want the full caldera experience

The classic caldera-luxury experience, perfected. It’s completely renovated, with private water features, the best spa product on the Caldera, a large gym, and the River Pool Suite, the single best suite I saw in Greece.

Both sit higher on the Caldera than most, which buys real privacy, and both come with the Canaves ecosystem: shuttle access to the other properties’ restaurants and spas, including Omnia at Epitome. Ena is framed as the accessible Canaves, but the gap to Oia Suites isn’t always as wide as you’d expect, so price your actual dates before deciding.

The question behind the question

Oia Suites is the better hotel. Ena is the more personal one.

For a honeymoon or a first trip where the classic caldera image is the point, book Oia Suites. The finishes, the spa, the private water features, and the River Pool Suite put it at #01 on my Santorini ranking, and if the price difference for your dates is small, it’s the easy call.

But Ena has the most personal story on the Caldera (one family since the 80s, suites that trace to 17th-century wine caves), and the team there, especially longtime sales director Des, is a big reason I trust sending clients to the property. Choose it if you’d rather have eighteen suites and a swim-up bar than square footage.
