Head-to-head · Rome
The two hotels on my Rome list that are central and still quiet. One is my favorite, a warm classic above the Spanish Steps; the other is the new opening that blew me away. Here is how I would choose.
Stayed at the Eden · Visited the Corinthia · October 2026
Anticipatory, warm service, bright rooms with real views and the restaurant upstairs. One of my top three stays in all of Italy.

A showstopper renovation across from parliament, with large rooms and a beautiful spa. Truly a game changer for Rome.

Most of Rome’s big names open onto crowds. Hotel Eden and the Corinthia are the two I send people to when they want to be central and still come home to quiet.
Hotel Eden is my top overall pick in Rome. I stayed, and it was one of my top three stays in all of Italy: anticipatory service, bright rooms, and the restaurant upstairs.
The Corinthia is new, and it blew me away. The renovation is a showstopper and the rooms are large, which is rare in central Rome. If space and a real spa top your list, it is the one. For warmth and romance, the Eden.

Space is hard to come by in central Rome, and the Corinthia has it. The rooms are large and tastefully appointed, with onyx and marble bathrooms, and that alone puts it in the conversation with the city’s classics.
The rooms at Hotel Eden are bright, modern and traditional at once, with incredible views over the rooftops. The top suites are spacious and can be combined into larger configurations for families or two couples.

Hotel Eden is on a quiet residential street just above the Spanish Steps. You are close to everything and still come home to calm. It is a gentle rise from the centro, so wear the right shoes home from dinner.
The Corinthia is across the street from parliament, so the area is incredibly safe, and quiet while still being in the middle of everything and walkable to it all.

The spa and public spaces at the Corinthia are beautiful, and big enough that the hotel never feels crowded. Some bedrooms open onto terraces.
At Hotel Eden, the public space I remember is the restaurant upstairs. The service was fantastic, and the view across the domes is the one I send couples to on their first evening in Rome.

Service at Hotel Eden was anticipatory: warm, personal and a step ahead the whole time. The concierge sorted my dinner reservations without any back and forth.
The Corinthia is new, so book with someone who knows it. Room categories and views vary, and I will steer you to the right one.
For me, Hotel Eden, my top overall pick in Rome. The Corinthia is the one I would pick if you want space and a real spa, and I think it is a game changer for the city.
Both. Hotel Eden is on a calm residential street above the Spanish Steps, and the Corinthia is across from parliament, safe and quiet. They are the two central hotels in Rome I recommend for quiet.
The Corinthia. Its rooms are large and tastefully appointed, which is rare in the centro storico.
The Corinthia has a beautiful spa. It is my pick in Rome for space and a real spa.
Yes. I was blown away by the Corinthia. Because it is new, room categories and views vary, so book with someone who knows it and I will steer you to the right one.
Tell me your dates and who is coming, and I will tell you which one fits and which room to ask for.
