Head-to-head · Dolomites
Two hotels with big views and excellent pools. One sits on the Alpe di Siusi meadows with the trails and slopes outside your room; the other is a quirky design hotel above Merano. Here is how I would choose.
Stayed at COMO Alpina · Toured Miramonti · October 2026
The only true ski-in, ski-out hotel I saw, with trails from your room in summer and a spa and pool that hold their own against anyone.
My COMO Alpina review →
The best outdoor pool of any hotel I saw in the region, beautiful views over Merano, and rooms that are each a little different.

Work with me and you get Fora perks, plus someone who knows these hotels personally and personalizes your stay: I steer you to the right room at both, sort the Alpe di Siusi permit and transfers, and fit Merano neatly at the start or end of your trip. Same rate as booking direct.
COMO Alpina’s huge selling point is location. You are right on the Alpe di Siusi, the high meadows ringed by peaks, and you walk out of your room onto the trails in summer and the slopes in winter. The spa and pool hold their own against anyone in the region.
Miramonti is a nice, unique property with an iconic pool, close to Merano. It isn’t at the level of the region’s top hotels as a luxury experience, but it is a great hotel for someone who values personality, the pool and the views over polish.
If you are coming to ski or hike among the famous peaks, pick COMO Alpina. If the pool and the views are the point, pick Miramonti. It is an easy first or last stop, especially to or from Lake Como or Switzerland.

COMO Alpina is the only true ski-in, ski-out hotel of the five I saw, and in summer the trails start at your door. It is my first choice for a ski trip and ties with Gardena Grödnerhof for summer. The Alpe di Siusi is protected, so cars need a permit; the hotel handles it.
Miramonti is above Merano, a spa town with a gentler climate and big views, outside the main Dolomites valleys. For hiking among the famous peaks, I would base you in Ortisei or on the Alpe di Siusi, which is exactly where COMO Alpina sits.

Rooms at COMO Alpina are very mountain in style and very spacious, with beautiful decks and views, large bathrooms and tubs. Mind the chairlift right outside the Mountain View rooms, which can feel a little loud and not very private in the shoulder season.
At Miramonti, the views over the valley and Merano are beautiful, and every room is designed differently. Because no two are alike, the right room matters, and I match one to you.

Miramonti’s infinity pool is the best outdoor pool of any hotel I saw in the region, and it is the reason people come.
COMO Alpina is built around wellness, like most COMO properties, and the spa and pool stack up very nicely against every hotel I saw. Expect German and Austrian sauna culture at both: the main saunas are mixed, and swimsuits come off.

COMO Alpina isn’t quite at the level of the region’s top hotels, but the price reflects that. Dining was solid, with a very nice dinner in the formal restaurant, and service elsewhere was good, if a little awkward at times.
Miramonti is character over polish, and the whole place is a little quirky. It isn’t a top-tier luxury experience. Choose it for the personality, the pool and the views.
It depends on the trip. COMO Alpina is the one for skiing and hiking, with the trails and slopes outside your room. Miramonti is a great stay for the right traveler: someone who wants the pool, the views and a hotel with personality.
COMO Alpina. It is the only true ski-in, ski-out hotel I saw, and my first choice in the Dolomites for a ski trip. Miramonti is above Merano, outside the main valleys.
Miramonti, for the outdoor pool; it is the best of any hotel I saw in the region. The spa and pool at COMO Alpina are on par with the best in the region, too.
Not really. Miramonti is above Merano, outside the main Dolomites valleys. For hiking among the famous peaks, base yourself in Ortisei or on the Alpe di Siusi, where COMO Alpina is.
At COMO Alpina, tell me how you are traveling first; in the shoulder season I would avoid the Mountain View rooms, because of the chairlift right outside. At Miramonti, every room is different, so I match one to you.
Yes. Miramonti is an easy add-on at either end of a Dolomites trip. Both are reached by train to Bolzano and a private car from there, and I arrange the transfers, including the permit for COMO Alpina.
Tell me your dates and who is coming, and I will tell you which one fits and which room to ask for.
