Miramonti review

Above Merano · The Best Outdoor Pool Of Any Hotel I Saw In The Region

A unique, quirky hotel with an iconic pool and beautiful views above Merano. Not at the level of the region’s top luxury hotels, but a great stay for the right traveler.

The review

An iconic pool hanging over the valley, and rooms that are each a little different.

Miramonti is a nice, unique property with an iconic pool, close to Merano. Merano isn’t really “in” the Dolomites the way the other hotels I saw are, but the views are beautiful and the setting is special.

Every room is designed differently, and the whole place is a little quirky. It isn’t at the level of the other hotels on my list as a luxury hotel experience, but it’s a great hotel for the right type of traveler: someone who values personality, the pool and the views over polish.

The details that made the list

01
The pool. The best outdoor pool of any hotel I saw in the region.
02
The views. Beautiful, over the valley and Merano.
03
The character. Every room is different, and the hotel has a personality all its own.

The Fine Print, From Your Advisor

01
It’s not really the Dolomites. Merano is a lovely base, but it’s outside the main Dolomites valleys. For hiking among the famous peaks, base yourself in Ortisei or on the Alpe di Siusi.
02
Character over polish. It isn’t a top-tier luxury hotel experience. If service and finish matter most, look at Forestis or Aman Rosa Alpina.
03
Expect German and Austrian sauna culture. The main sauna areas are mixed, men and women together. You’ll walk around the spa in a towel or robe, but swimsuits and wraps come off in the saunas and steam rooms. Your body isn’t supposed to touch the wood, so you sit or lie on your towel in the saunas, and on a small towel in the steam rooms. It’s completely normal in this corner of Italy; the pools are swimsuit areas.
04
Ask about your room. Because every room is different, the right one matters. I’ll match one to you.
