The Biggest Gym I Saw In Rome

Spectacular. Base rooms the size of junior suites elsewhere, marble and mosaics, a lively and sophisticated scene, more restaurants and bars than I could count, and the biggest gym in Rome.

The review

Spectacular, with base rooms the size of other hotels’ junior suites, marble and mosaics everywhere, and more places to eat and drink than I could count.

For me, the Bulgari is spectacular.

The base rooms are very large. At a lot of hotels they’d be called deluxe rooms or even junior suites, so you know you’re getting a solid room size at these rates. In central Rome, that matters.

It’s very modern, with lots of marble and incredible mosaics in the bathrooms. And it’s a lively hotel, almost like an EDITION, but much more sophisticated. I also loved the location, right next to the Mausoleum of Augustus, which is almost done with its renovation.

What stood out

The details that made the list

01
Very large base rooms. What other hotels would sell as a deluxe room or a junior suite, so the entry rate already buys real space.
02
Marble and mosaics. Very modern design, lots of marble, and incredible mosaics in the bathrooms.
03
A lively, sophisticated scene. Almost like an EDITION, but much more polished.
04
The location. Right next to the Mausoleum of Augustus, which is almost done with its renovation.
05
So many places to eat and drink. A beautiful rooftop bar and pizza restaurant, another bar on the floor below it, and more. Honestly, I’m not even sure how many there are.
06
A trattoria with fair prices. Downstairs there’s a classic Roman trattoria with dishes that are actually affordable, like €18 pastas. I loved that.
07
The biggest gym I saw in Rome. Massive, with serious equipment, plus a spa.

The Fine Print, From Your Advisor

01
The entry rooms are the value. Because the base category is so generous, you often don’t need to upgrade to get space. I’ll tell you when a higher category is worth it.
02
It’s lively, not hushed. If you want quiet and calm, the Eden above the Spanish Steps is the one I’d pick.
03
Compare the rest of Rome. The de Russie for the garden, La Minerva for a real Roman neighborhood, the St. Regis for spectacle and the new Corinthia for space and a spa.
04
Transfers and drivers, arranged. I arrange private transfers from Fiumicino or Termini station, drivers for days outside the city, and onward travel by fast train or car to Florence, Naples or the Amalfi Coast.
