Head-to-head · Positano
The two famous names in Positano. One sits on the cliffs just outside town; the other is right in the middle of it. Here is how I would choose.
Stayed at Le Sirenuse · Toured Il San Pietro · October 2026
Privacy, a sea view from every room, and a beach club that keeps the sun when the rest of the coast is in shade. Plus the tennis court.
My Il San Pietro review →
Lively, formal and right in the middle of Positano. Stunning art, an out-of-this-world breakfast, and the place to see and be seen.

Work with me and you get Fora perks, plus someone who knows these hotels personally and personalizes your stay: I arrange the boats, transfers and the sunset cruise before you land. Same rate as booking direct.
Le Sirenuse is a really cool, lively property in the middle of Positano. That is either a selling point or a sore point, depending on who you are and what you are looking for.
If you want privacy, go for Il San Pietro. If you want to be able to walk into town, which is busy, pick Le Sirenuse.
It is very easy to get into town from Il San Pietro, so being outside it is not really a minus. It is more of a plus: you get more privacy and quiet.

At Il San Pietro, every room has a sea view and is impeccably kept: nautical, bright, blues and whites and tiles. Some rooms face the sunrise, others the sunset. Sunsets are hard to find on the Amalfi Coast, so tell me which you want.
At Le Sirenuse, I would only stay in a true sea-view room or suite. The rest either have courtyard views, or the pool view is right on top of the pool, and it is loud.

Il San Pietro’s beach club is on the sunset side. In the fall, the best time to visit, swim time ends around 4:30 or 5pm at most hotels on the coast. Not here.
Le Sirenuse has a new beach club, with complimentary boats there at 10:30 and 12:30. The hotel also runs a sunset cruise, but book it in advance. I learned that the hard way.

Service at Le Sirenuse is very formal, and you come to see and be seen. The artwork around the property is stunning, the lookout over the dome is truly stunning, and the breakfast is out of this world.
At Il San Pietro, no one can look down on you, and the whole property is very private, so you will only see other guests.

A boat transfer from Naples or Salerno is practical and enjoyable at Il San Pietro and Villa Treville, and I arrange the private transfer to Le Sirenuse. The nearest helipad is in Scala, close to Ravello. Reach out and I will handle all of it.
For me, Il San Pietro, if privacy and quiet matter to you. Pick Le Sirenuse if you want to walk into town. Getting into Positano from Il San Pietro is very easy on the free boat and car shuttles, so being outside town is not really a minus. It is more of a plus.

At Il San Pietro, every room has a sea view; tell me whether you want the sunrise or the sunset side, and go Signature or Prestige for more space. At Le Sirenuse, only a true sea-view room or suite. The others face the courtyard or sit right on top of the pool, which is loud.
Il San Pietro. It is #06 in The Fifteen, my honeymoon shortlist, and the privacy is the point.
Le Sirenuse. It is right in the middle of Positano, and you come to Le Sirenuse to see and be seen.
Tell me your dates and who is coming, and I will tell you which one fits and which room to ask for.
