Head-to-head · Venice
Two of the best hotels in Venice, built for different trips. Aman is a 24-room palazzo on the Grand Canal; Airelles Palladio is a garden estate with pools on Giudecca, five minutes across the water. Here is how I would choose.
Toured both · October 2026
The pools, the three-story spa, four restaurants and four bars, gardens on a scale Venice does not have anywhere else, and the best family suites in the city. It is the most beautiful hotel I have seen in Italy.
My Airelles Palladio review →
Twenty-four rooms in a restored palazzo on the Grand Canal, with Aman’s quiet, personal service and real privacy. It is one of the most beautiful Amans I have seen, and the natural pairing with Aman Rosa Alpina.

Work with me and you get Fora perks, plus someone who knows these hotels personally and personalizes your stay: I arrange the boats, tables and transfers before you land. Same rate as booking direct.
I toured both on the same day in October 2026, along with the Four Seasons Danieli and Orient Express. Both are fantastic, and they serve different purposes.
If you are comparing what a hotel gives you, Airelles Palladio wins: Aman has no pool, a smaller spa and fewer places to eat and drink. Airelles is also the better choice for families, and for me it is simply the more beautiful of the two. It is my number one hotel in Italy.
Aman wins at being Aman. It is smaller, more private and more personal, with a location on the Grand Canal in the middle of the city, and it connects beautifully to Aman Rosa Alpina in the Dolomites. For couples, either one is a wonderful choice.

Aman sits on the Grand Canal in San Polo, a short walk from the Rialto. You step out into Venice.
Airelles is on Giudecca, across the water from the Zattere and five minutes by boat from St. Mark’s. Some travelers will want the center; many will prefer coming home to peace and quiet in a very touristy city. I would argue that is the selling point.

This is where Airelles pulls ahead. It has a long outdoor pool in the gardens, an indoor pool in a three-story Guerlain spa, four restaurants and four bars.
Aman has a small spa with three treatment suites, a fitness center, Arva for Italian dining and a bar overlooking its Canal Garden. There is no pool.
Airelles, without question. There is a kids club, room to roam, a three-bedroom suite with its own private pool, and the four-bedroom Suite del Doge for the whole family.
Aman’s two three-bedroom apartments can house a family, but the hotel is built for calm, and there is no pool.
Both are exceptional. At Aman I met the general manager, Licinio Garavaglia, who is genuinely a fantastic person, and I know he will take great care of my clients.
Airelles was lively in October without ever being loud. Private and secure, and still social and fun. Sophisticated, never stuffy.

Airelles has the Suite del Doge, 450 square meters with four bedrooms in Villa Frollo, which can be privatized to 13 bedrooms.
Aman has Coccina’s Apartment on the fourth floor, reached by a private elevator, at 290 square meters with three bedrooms, frescoes and painted ceilings, and the three-bedroom Grand Canal Apartment at 226 square meters.
Aman offers two nights at Aman Venice and three nights at Aman Rosa Alpina with transfers included. It is an easy way to see Venice and the mountains in one trip. See the Aman Venice + Aman Rosa Alpina journey →
For a faster connection, I can arrange a helicopter between the two. The nearest helipad is about eight minutes from Aman Venice.
Airelles pairs just as naturally with any of my Dolomites hotels: Forestis, Gardena Grödnerhof, COMO Alpina or Aman Rosa Alpina. I arrange the private car, about two and a half to three hours, or a helicopter. My Dolomites guide →
For most travelers, Airelles Palladio. It has the pools, the larger spa, more restaurants and bars, and it is the most beautiful hotel I have seen in Italy. Choose Aman Venice if you want a small, very private palazzo on the Grand Canal with classic Aman service, or if you are pairing Venice with Aman Rosa Alpina in the Dolomites.
Airelles Palladio, clearly. It has outdoor and indoor pools, a kids club, gardens to run around in, a three-bedroom suite with its own private pool and the four-bedroom Suite del Doge. Aman Venice has no pool and is built for quiet.
Both are excellent. Pick Aman if you want to be in the middle of the city and value privacy above everything. Pick Airelles if you want a resort with a pool, a three-story spa and a lively bar scene to come back to.
No. Aman Venice has a small spa with three treatment suites and a fitness center, but no pool. Airelles Palladio has an outdoor pool in the gardens and an indoor pool in its spa.
No. It is on Giudecca, and the hotel boat reaches St. Mark’s in about five minutes. I worried it would feel isolated, and it does not. Many travelers will prefer having a calm side of the water to come home to.
Yes. Aman offers a combination stay of two nights at Aman Venice and three nights at Aman Rosa Alpina in the Dolomites, with transfers included. I can also arrange a helicopter between the two; the nearest helipad is about eight minutes from Aman Venice.
At Airelles Palladio, the Suite del Doge: 450 square meters (about 4,800 square feet) with four bedrooms, in Villa Frollo, which can be privatized to 13 bedrooms. At Aman Venice, Coccina’s Apartment: 290 square meters (3,122 square feet) with three bedrooms and a private elevator, and the Grand Canal Apartment: 226 square meters (2,432 square feet) with three bedrooms.
Tell me your dates and who is coming, and I will tell you which one fits and which room to ask for.
